About Charles E. Kennedy
Charles Kennedy had been with MacDougall, MacDougall & MacTier (3Macs) for 35 years, until 3Macs was acquired by Raymond James in October 2016. Charles, now in his 70’s, works in partnership with Carmen Jankey and Sam Richardson and together they have developed a fee-based, discretionary portfolio management practice. They design and manage custom portfolios according to the risk tolerance, tax status, needs and goals of each of their individual clients.
Two investment themes have contributed greatly to clients’ success. A dividend growth strategy has proven to be one of the surest and most successful over multiple market cycles. As a central investment philosophy, Charles and his team seek out, invest in and hold on to companies that have produced extraordinary records of increasing their dividends. A second investment theme is to invest in “non-Canadian Canadian” companies, which are successful Canadian companies that produce large and growing revenues and profits outside of Canada. Large portions of most clients’ portfolios are in such companies. Although equities are certainly the most important asset allocation, Charles also considers both fixed income and cash reserve allocations when appropriate. We look after personal and corporate accounts as well as all registered accounts, including advising clients to take advantage of tax free savings accounts.
