Head of Real Estate
Lucas Atkins has over 15 years of experience in real estate, including investment banking, business development, mergers and acquisitions, and equity and debt origination. Mr. Atkins has been principally involved in over $22 billion of real estate transactions across multi-residential, commercial and development projects. Since joining Raymond James, Mr. Atkins has helped raise over $12 billion through public financing transactions and over $2 billion through private financing and joint venture transactions. Mr. Atkins studied Business at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and History at Huron College, and graduated with an HBA degree and as an All-Canadian Academic Athlete.
Financial Institutions and Financial Technology
David joined Raymond James in 2016 from the Royal Bank of Canada where he was a member of the bank's U.S. Strategy and M&A team. While at RBC, David was a key member of the deal team that executed the bank's $5.0 billion acquisition of City National Corporation. Prior to RBC, David was a member of the Financial Institutions Group at UBS Investment Bank in New York, where he focused on financial technology, asset management and specialty finance. Prior to UBS, David was a member of the government affairs team at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in Washington, DC., where he focused on financial services matters. David is a graduate of the MBA program at the Ivey Business School and the JD program at Western University, and he obtained his BA from the University of the South (Sewanee), where he graduated magna cum laude, with honors and distinction.
Head of Consumer, Agriculture/Chemicals, and Manufacturing Glenn Gatcliffe joined Raymond James in November 2015 from BMO Capital Markets where he was a Managing Director in Investment Banking. With over 15 years of experience, Glenn covered Consumer and Industrial Products and most recently lead the global coverage of Fertilizers and Agriculture. He has a broad range of transaction experience including M&A advisory, equity financings, lending, and debt capital markets in North America, Europe, Asia and South America. Glenn earned his Bachelor of Science and Business Administration from Babson College in Boston, and went on to earn his Masters of Business Administration (Finance) from McGill University.
Jason Holtby has 19 years experience in the energy sectors and investment banking sectors. Over the last twelve years, Jason has been active in numerous merger and acquisitions, financings, trust conversions, corporate restructurings, valuation and fairness opinion mandates in the oil and gas sector and the industrial sectors. Prior to joining Raymond James, Jason was the Chief Financial Officer of a publicly traded international oil and gas service company. Jason holds a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) and is a Certified General Accountant (CGA).
Christian is a professional engineer with 12 years’ experience in the mining industry, having worked both in technical and finance roles. Prior to joining Raymond James Ltd., he spent three years working for Haywood Securities Inc. in Toronto, as an Investment Banking Associate, where he focused exclusively on mining finance and mining M&A. Prior to his time at Haywood, he worked for Dynatec Corporation in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, as a Metallurgical Engineer. At Dynatec, Christian was heavily involved in the metallurgical design of the US$7B Ambatovy Nickel-Cobalt Project in Madagascar. Christian was also involved in Dynatec's corporate development activities, with a focus on equity investments in mining companies. Christian is an author/co-author of 3 published technical papers in the field of hydrometallurgy. His B.A.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering comes from the University of British Columbia.
Adam Kauffman joined Raymond James in its New York office in 2004 and moved to the Toronto office in 2007. Adam has approximately 9 years of distressed situation financial advisory experience across a broad array of industries. Prior to joining Raymond James, Adam worked as a consultant to the World Bank Group in Washington DC and in the Corporate Restructuring and Assurance Advisory groups at Ernst & Young in Toronto. Adam holds a Chartered Accountant designation, a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University and an M.B.A. from Georgetown University, where he graduated with honors.
Power and Infrastructure
Alan Kelly joined Raymond James' Power and Infrastructure team in 2016 from CIBC World Markets, where he was an Associate in the Investment Banking Mergers and Acquisition team. He has advised both domestic and global clients on a broad range of transactions across various sectors including P&U, O&G, mining, engineering services, chemicals, automotive and TMT. Prior to his experience in Investment Banking, Alan worked for six years as a Systems Design Engineer and Team Lead at Thales Rail Signaling Solutions. Alan holds a professional engineering license, a BASc in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management, where he graduated with honors.
Head of Cleantech and Technology
Jimmy Leung is Head of Cleantech and Technology Investment Banking. Jimmy joined Raymond James in 2005 from a bank-owned investment dealer, where he was a member of the investment banking group. Jimmy has considerable experience in financial advisory, financing and mergers and acquisitions activities, having been directly involved in over 70 successful transactions for public and private cleantech and technology companies. Jimmy is a Chartered Accountant and is a Chsartered Financial Analyst charterholder. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Waterloo.
For the last 20 years Ian MacKay has been actively involved in in key financings, mergers and acquisitions in the construction and engineering, industrial and forest products sectors across Canada. Transaction experience includes the $125 million sale of Anthony Forest Products to Canfor, three separate equity financings for WSP Global as the co-lead underwriter totaling $950 million, the $320 million sale of North American Energy Partners’ Piling Division to Keller Group, the $68 million investment in Clark Builders by Turner Construction, the $390 million sale of Seacliff Construction to The Churchill Corporation, the $100 million IPO of Seacliff Construction, the $150 million IPO of Lockerbie & Hole, the $155 million sale of Steeplejack to The Brock Group, four separate equity sale transactions for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers totaling $500 million, the $115 million sale of Primex Forest Products to Interfor, the $660 million purchase and restructuring of TimberWest, and the $850 million purchase of Pacifica Papers. Ian has a degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of British Columbia. He holds the Chartered Accountant (CA) and Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designations.

Sean joined Raymond James in September 2014 from TD Securities, where he was a senior member of the Financial Institutions Group, and was responsible for building TD’s Financial Technology practice. Sean brings an extensive 15-year background and deep experience earned from playing an integral role in some of the most significant transactions involving financial institutions in Canada over the past decade. He is a well-respected investment banker with a track record for building profitable and strong relationships, coupled with a keen eye for recognizing and acting upon strategic opportunities. Prior to his nine years at TD, Sean worked with Manulife Financial (Toronto and Hong Kong) and Bank of Montreal (Toronto). Sean earned his MBA from the Rotman School of Management and BA from the University of Western Ontario, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Financial Planner.

Craig joined Raymond James in 2014 from National Bank Financial, where he was Head of the Mergers and Acquisitions Group for the last 17 years. He was previously a Managing Director at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, and prior to that in the Corporate Finance Group at Ernst & Young. Craig has extensive experience on advising management teams and their Board of Directors over numerous industry groups in both hostile and friendly transactions. Craig is a Chartered Accountant (Ontario) and a member of the Canadian Institute of Charted Business Valuator (C.B.V.), he is past President and Board Member of the CICBV Institute.
Gavin joined Raymond James in 2013 from Barclays, where he was Global Co-Head of Metals and Mining, with senior coverage responsibility for clients based in the Americas. Gavin began his mining investment banking career with UBS in 1994 and subsequently became a Managing Director in the investment banking divisions of National Bank and Citigroup. Gavin has extensive experience advising on M&A and financing transactions across a broad range of clients, commodities, products and markets. Gavin holds a LLM in Mineral Law and Policy from the University of Dundee (Scotland) and a B. Comm from Queen's University (Kingston).
Omar Murad joined Raymond James’ M&A team in 2015 and was previously a Vice President at BMO Capital Markets Investment Banking. He has advised both domestic and global clients on a broad range of transactions across various sectors including mining, fertilizers, agriculture and chemicals. Prior to his experience in Investment Banking, Omar worked in Institutional Equity Research and Accounting. Omar earned his MBA in finance from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and his BBA in accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Mr. Naylen has more than 15 years of oil and gas investment banking experience and has worked in Calgary, Houston, Hong Kong and Singapore. Prior to joining Raymond James, Sean was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and led the Calgary investment banking team. Sean focuses on Canadian energy clients and has completed more than $50 billion of transactions on 6 continents, across M&A, equity and debt transactions. Sean earned a BA, with honors, in History from Huron College and an MBA, with Dean’s List Honors, from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Sean was awarded the “Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal” for his volunteer work in Canada and abroad.
Ross Prokopy has over 10 years of capital markets experience in Energy, investment Banking and Debt Capital Markets. Prior to joining Raymond James, Ross was Managing Director and Head, Debt Capital Markets at an independent investment bank where he created the firms Debt Capital Markets, origination and syndication platform. He has an extensive background in High Yield underwritings. Ross also served as Captain in the Canadian Forces where he excelled as a Main Battle Tank and Armoured Reconnaissance, Troop Leader. He was awarded the Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal and the NATO Stabilization Force Medal. After completing his military service, Ross earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Yale School of Management . He is also a graduate of the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario.
Jim Tower joined Raymond James in 2016 and has 25 years of experience in investment banking. Prior to joining Raymond James, Jim was Managing Director, Group Head of Power & Utilities at BMO Capital Markets. He has a broad range of expertise including raising capital for and advising investor-owned and government-owned corporations on acquisitions and divestitures of assets in Canada and the United States. Jim earned an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and is a Chartered Accountant.
Govinder Ubhi joined Raymond James in 2016 from Jefferies Securities Inc. Govinder began his career in Investment Banking in 2008 at Jefferies International in London, England and moved to the Toronto office in 2013 having worked out of Toronto and New York. He has worked across Aerospace and Defence, Metals & Mining and General Industrials with transaction experience in M&A, debt capital markets, restructuring and equity capital markets. Govinder earned his Masters in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London.
John is a well respected professional with 20 years of senior experience in mining finance and advisory work. Prior to joining Raymond James, John was a Managing Director with Haywood Securities. John holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, as well as a Masters of Engineering from McMaster University.
