Golfing for a Cure: Annual Raymond James Classic raises $38,000
Trevor Johnson, Financial Advisor, Ottawa and the Contego Team once again led the charge organizing a charity golf tournament in support of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation (ORCF). On July 22nd, 70 golfers took to the green for the 12th Annual Raymond James Ottawa Golf Classic.
Supported with a $10,000 donation from the Raymond James Canada Foundation, the tournament raised $38,000. Proceeds from the tournament went towards programming at the Maplesoft Cancer Survivorship Centre which offers a cancer coaching program for patients and families. Proceeds also went to the Cyberknife Radiosurgery Program at the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre. The Cyberknife is a revolutionary radiation device that is so accurate it can treat tumours in areas like the brain or spine that are otherwise inoperable by traditional surgery or radiation methods.
"We are a unique event in that thanks to the contributions of key partners like RJCF & our sponsors, we are able to fundraise a substantial amount each year," said Trevor who is also a Cabinet Member with the ORCF. "Our event is quick, lots of fun and makes a big impact. We owe a huge thanks to our FA's and clients who participated through buying raffle and mulligan tickets and bidding up our silent auction items to add nearly $5,000 to the total funds raised. Additionally, we were broadly supported by our mutual fund and structured products partners, to whom we also owe a massive thank you."
Special thank you goes out to Karol Phillips, Sales Associate, Ottawa, who pours her heart and soul into this event every year and is a key reason for its success.
