- List of fun and productive activities for kids or grandkids:
- Write Letters - Now is the time to write letters! Have the kids write letters to their friends, cousins, grandparents, etc… Have them write a letter a day. This gets them writing and allows you to review and correct their work.
- Poster Board & Virtual Presentation Project - Have the kids choose a topic of interest and create a poster board presentation. Once the poster board is completed, depending on ages, they can practice a five minute presentation. If you have multiple kids, have everyone select a different topic and then select a date for the presentations. Encourage your friend’s kids to build their poster board projects also. Once you have a group of kids ready to present, load up Zoom, FaceTime, etc. and have the kids present to each other on-line. This way they get practice presenting, they get feedback from their peers and they gain access to multiple topics.
- Spelling & Definitions - Have your kids start a word spelling and definitions workbook. Everyday they have to select two words they don’t know or want to know, they look them up, write the word and the definition in their workbooks. At the end of the week they will have 10 words compiled that you can use for a weekly spelling test. Give them a head’s up regarding the test and reward them when they do well.
- Poker Math - Bring out a deck of cards on the kitchen table, deal out a hand face down and get them to flip the cards over to use it for timed math work. Young ones can use addition and subtraction, while the older kids can use multiplication and division. Not only will this sharpen your kid’s math skills, it will also help them with their poker skills!
- Crossword & Word-find - Get the kids to complete crossword and word-find puzzles. Once they have completed a few, they then can create their own and share it with their friends.
We hope these ideas help and inspire everyone to stay healthy and happy! Please feel free to share them with your friends, colleagues and clients in hopes that it will help ease some stress.
