He focuses on working with individuals and families to create long-term financial plans that go hand-in-hand with tailored portfolios. Jim’s expertise and background help the team stay ahead of the curve on macro-economic trends.
Jim joined 3Macs in 2007 after a distinguished academic career at both Bishop’s University and Lancaster University Management School in England, where he achieved his PhD. He was an award-winning teacher of Business Strategy, Industry Analysis, Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship. His depth of knowledge in these subjects has resulted in a seamless transition to his current role working with many entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial families. Prior to joining the Bishop’s faculty, he owned and operated several successful Canadian footwear businesses. For more than 20 years, Jim successfully combined an active strategic consulting practice with his academic responsibilities. Moreover, Jim continues to serve as a director on both public and private boards. This wealth of experience enriches our team’s process for asset allocation, sector analysis and overall portfolio construction.
Jim, along with Bob and Nick, championed the Splash and Dash charity over 10 years ago. Splash and Dash is a yearly event benefitting the Montreal Children’s Hospital pediatric oncology division.
Jim’s caring nature for his clients is only rivaled by his love for his family. Jim and his wife Mary, live in Westmount, but regularly visit with Jim’s children Michael and Kristen. If Jim is not spending time with his family, he can be found at Royal Montreal Golf Club, where he has been a member for close to 20 years.
The Chartered Investment Manager® (CIM®) Designation builds the skills and experience we need to serve a more sophisticated financial client or institution. Financial professionals who hold the CIM® designation are eligible for registration as a Portfolio Manager in Canada.
