July 2023: Mark and Traci at the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. Designed by Antoni Gaudi, this is the largest unfinished church and the longest ongoing construction project in the world. Gaudí devoted the remainder of his life to the project, and he is buried in the church's crypt. At the time of his death in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete. It is now anticipated that the building will be completed by 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death.
July 2023: Around 48km northwest of Barcelona, Mark and Traci at the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey. The monastery was founded in the 11th century and still functions to this day with over 70 monks. The Publicacions de l'Abadia de Montserrat, the onsite publishing house, is one of the oldest printing presses in the world still running, with its first book published in 1499. FYI: the opening chapter of Dan Brown's 2017 novel Origin is set in Santa Maria de Montserrat.
July 2023: At the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, the Black Madonna statue sits behind a sheet of glass. However, one of her hands that is holding a sphere (which symbolizes the universe) is not behind the glass. It is tradition for you to kiss or touch the Virgin's hand whilst opening out your other hand to Jesus. Mark decided to just take a photo.

And the audio is amazing: 167,000 amplified loudspeaker drivers, housed in 1,600 loudspeaker modules with another 300 mobile modules, results in crisp, clean, high-quality audio, which sounded as if the speakers were directly in front of you rather than hundreds of feet away. Amazing audio and video in a building designed for music, not sports. And U2 was amazing!!!
